the needed knowledge for global growth. |
Everyone wants to live a happy and
free life in a country where they can have equal opportunities and a better
future for themselves and their families. Some countries can provide political and economical freedom that not
many countries can. Moving to another country also appeal to some people as a
viable solution to their problems. But with just like every other thing, the
process of migration also has its own pros and cons. Pros can be having a new
and better life and environment and the cons can be racism, language barriers
and lack of opportunities.
There are many reasons why people
choose to migrate but sometimes there are people who are forced to because of
reasons such as danger, poverty, and being displaced. Migration is an important
issue for everyone and people with different views may not agree with migration
but it is important to understand that people deserve to live a livable life
with opportunities and security.
Migration is motivated, first and
foremost, by lack of economic opportunities at home. With the average income
level in high-income countries more than 70 times higher than in low-income
countries, it is not surprising that many in the developing world feel
compelled to try their luck elsewhere. This trend is reinforced by demographic
shifts. As high-income countries face population aging, many lower-income
countries have burgeoning working-age and youth populations. As time goes by, the population multiply in
many numbers and so has the numbers of immigrants.
Immigrants play a
vital role globally. It brings
huge benefits, fuelling growth, innovation and entrepreneurship in both the
countries people come from, and in those they move to. When governed humanely
to promote safety, order and dignity, migration has endless advantages.
Migration helps sustain economic development, provides opportunities, and
raises incomes and living standards. These benefits are important to keep in
mind because more and not less, migration will probably be needed in the
future. Globally, the population is ageing and countries are predicting a
massive shortage of workers. Contrary to public perceptions that countries do
not need migrants, the reality is that migrants mitigate the effects of an
ageing and shrinking population and will be key in the sustainability of the
dependency rates.
Additionally, migration brings
cultural diversity that leads us to help understand different perspectives and
helps to dispel negative stereotypes about different groups. Cultural diversity paves the way to better
problem-solving, more empathy and compassion, deepened learning, and approaches
the world from various perspectives.
Migrants deserve to be recognized
and taken to be an important factor of many parts in the developing world. With
cases of violence, corruption and poverty, the process of migration gives
people a big opportunity to seek a better life in other parts of the world. It
is important to take into account that the benefits that migration brings to the countries of destination are
outshined by some of the
current misperceptions about migration and the distorted way in which migration
issues are discussed.
Until then, only the politicians of the world will be able to develop fact-based
policies and legislative frameworks that respond to the real needs while
promoting the protection and integration of migrants in host societies.
